Streamlining Purchase Order and Delivery Note Comparison: An Unexpected Developer Challenge
In the realm of supply chain and procurement management, verifying that delivery quantities and prices align with purchase orders (POs) is a critical yet often time-consuming task. This process involves meticulous manual comparison of documents such as POs and delivery notes to ensure accuracy—an ongoing challenge for many businesses.
Recognizing this common pain point, I, a developer with a knack for creating small-scale applications over weekends, set out to develop a solution. A friend mentioned how much time employees spend cross-referencing these documents to confirm that shipments match purchase agreements—checking quantities, prices, and identifying any discrepancies, missing items, or replacements.
Motivated by this insight, I built a preliminary web-based tool designed to automate the comparison process. The application simplifies the task by allowing users to upload their purchase orders and delivery notes, then automatically highlights differences, ensuring everything aligns correctly. Early tests indicate it functions effectively, promising significant time savings and improved accuracy.
At this stage, I am exploring potential users who might find this tool beneficial. I am interested in expanding testing and feedback to refine its features further. If you’re interested in trying out the app, please feel free to comment or message me directly. I am happy to grant instant access for testing purposes—completely free, with all data securely deleted afterward.
Additionally, I am keen to test various document formats, including scanned paper delivery notes. If your organization handles scanned PDFs or images, your input would be especially valuable.
This initiative isn’t a commercial promotion but a personal project driven by a desire to address real-world operational challenges. If you see potential in this tool or have specific use cases, I’d love to hear your thoughts and collaborate on enhancing its capabilities.
Note: This project is in the early stages, and I am open to suggestions to ensure it meets practical needs effectively.
