Title: The Unlikely Intersection of AI and RFPs: Does Anyone Really Care?
Navigating the world of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) is often a long and meticulous process. Recently, I had an intriguing encounter with someone who, surprisingly, seems to think Artificial Intelligence could transform this very domain.
An ambitious AI engineer contacted me with a rather curious proposition related to his thesis project. His goal? To gather experts who manage RFPs daily to witness a demonstration of AI capabilities in this field.
In our email exchanges, he frequently mentioned, “Gemini is not effective with RFPs” and boasted that he had trained ChatGPT to tackle them much more efficiently. His enthusiasm was palpable, as he was keen on gathering an audience of RFP specialists to showcase his AI’s prowess.
However, the reality is quite different for professionals entrenched in the meticulous process of preparing detailed 300-page proposals. These individuals have precious little time to participate in what seemed like an AI competition or demonstration.
Personally, I can’t help but feel a bit weary from the trend of every project seeking to pivot into an AI startup narrative. While innovative, I wonder if those deeply involved in the RFP world would pause their demanding schedules for an AI showcase.
What are your thoughts? Is there a genuine interest in the AI-driven transformation of RFP processes, or is it merely another entrepreneurial endeavor struggling for relevance?
