Title: Transitioning from Procurement to Freelance Success: A New Journey
Embarking on the path of entrepreneurship is both exciting and daunting, especially when transitioning from a specialized field like procurement. After dedicating six years to the procurement sector, I’ve come to realize that my true passion lies elsewhere. As I step away from the traditional employment model, my aim is to harness the skills I’ve acquired and apply them to a venture aligned with my interests—particularly within the tech industry.
One of the challenges I face is that the scope of procurement can often feel quite niche. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) frequently operate without dedicated procurement departments, as these functions are typically absorbed by finance teams or overshadowed by priorities such as marketing and sales. Additionally, the financial capacity of these businesses doesn’t often stretch to cover a full-time procurement role.
In my previous role, I personally explored the potential of automation and Artificial Intelligence to streamline procurement tasks, achieving a remarkable 60-80% reduction in manual work. However, the adoption of such technologies within large corporations remains in its infancy, and smaller businesses still place less emphasis on these aspects.
Determined to escape the corporate world, my goal is to focus on SMEs and embrace the flexibility of remote work. Beyond developing apps and automation tools related to procurement, I am eager to discover new ways to leverage my expertise as a solopreneur.
I am reaching out for advice and ideas on applying my procurement knowledge in innovative ways in order to build a successful freelance business. Your insights would be invaluable as I navigate this transition.
